Signers of the Declaration of Independence

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants,
nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence
knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.
Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife’s bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It’s not much to ask for the price they paid.

How to fix America

There is an old saying, “a fish rots from the head down”  We have been too fixated on BHO as the head, however,  BHO is only the puppet. We need to find the puppet master and cut the strings.  BHO will be a one term president but he will leave a very costly legacy.
We the People will have to dig deep to find someone like the people’s founding fathers that made this a great country and help them rebuild it. Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and crew did not do it alone, they had a country that needed building and they did their job. We have a country that needs rebuilding and that is our job.
We need to be less forgiving of politicians.  If a politician is a crook, at best they should be banned from politics for life.  Banned should mean banned and not allowed to be a lobbyist either.  Worst case, try some as traitors to their country during a time of war and execute a couple on the White House lawn.  This crap of the few screwing the many and laughing at us as sheep every 4 years at the polls has to stop.
Look at our politicians and try to find a Jefferson, Truman, Lincoln and we can’t even find a Jackson and we tried to impeach him. If we find a politician and they don’t agree with the mainstream media, they are crucified.  If they are liberal enough for CNN they can do no wrong.  Listen to the reporters when you find one, of any belief that is on a witch hunt, change channels. Viewers still rule on TV but only for the advertising value of numbers.  Let’s make our numbers count.
Let us put aside political differences and vote with our collective souls as Americans not as liberals or conservatives, Democrats or Republicans but as Americans.   Cross party lines, we are America and we are leaders not sheep.  If you don’t like a parties platform, tear the damn thing down and rebuild it the right way.  We all know right from wrong and both parties have planks in their platforms that have some good ideas and some real stinkers. Build on the good ones and remove the bad ones.   Vote you beliefs, vote you soul and if you are a sheep, at least vote for your children and their futures so they won’t have to be sheep and have masters to serve.
We are in a fight for our very existence.  We have leaders behind the scenes that we don’t even know.  BHO is the Manchurian Candidate, it was mandatory reading when I was in school as was the Emperor is wearing no clothes. I do not dislike him as President because he is black, i dislike him because he is invisible.  He is some body’s product, find those people and take their power away, limit campaign contributions and that will help correct the situation.
Ask why a person or group of people will spend 100′s of millions of dollars to elect a President.  No businessperson spends that kind of money without expecting payback.  Follow the money. This November, pick leaders that will help in ways other spending PORK in our communities.  And let us make America what it should be, a country the whole world looks up to as a leader.  We have the history, we have been that in the past, but I am truly worried about the future.  Study our history or at the very least read our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights.  Our politicians only read them to find loop holes to steal our freedom and  liberties.
We can no longer vote for someone because they are “the lesser of two evils”
There is no such thing as the lesser of two evils, there is only the evil of two lessers.  We are 300 million people surely to God we have some good people in this great country we can trust to lead us on to further greatness. If we don’t have great leaders out of that many people, we deserve our fate. Who knows, unless we change one day the Mexicans may be calling us the illegial immigrants.
Of course I could be wrong.
